Taxes in Uganda

Uganda's tax system imposes statutory charges on income, sales, employment, imports, specific goods and certain transactions. The Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) administers registration, assessment, collection, refunds and audits, while the Ministry of Finance develops tax policy and legislation. A Tax Identification Number (TIN) identifies taxpayers for tax registration and several related transactions. Rates, thresholds and filing duties depend on the taxpayer's status, income, transaction and sector.
