Labor law in Bangladesh

Bangladesh labour law governs dependent work, employment contracts, working time, wages, safety, representation, disputes and termination. The main framework consists of the Bangladesh Labour Act 2006, the Bangladesh Labour Rules 2015, the Rules Amendment 2022 and the Bangladesh Labour (Amendment) Act 2026. Most private factories, shops and commercial or industrial establishments fall within it, but government service, EPZ employment and statutory exclusions follow separate rules. Rights and procedures depend on worker classification, establishment and sector, and applicable wage gazettes; Bangladesh has no single flat national minimum wage.
