Documents, identification, vaccination, timing, destination rules, and transport conditions should be confirmed before travel. Housing agreements may restrict animals even when general local rules permit them. Written permission from the owner of a rented home prevents later disputes. In public, owners should control their animals, prevent bites, remove waste, and respect shared spaces. Leash and muzzle expectations can depend on the place, animal, and local rules. Stray dogs and cats are visible in some communities. An unfamiliar animal may be frightened, territorial, ill, or protective of young, so calm distance is safer than sudden contact. Good welfare includes suitable food, clean water, shelter, exercise, medical care, and humane treatment. Abandoning an animal creates suffering and public safety problems.
