Apprenticeship in Bulgaria is not one single route for every occupation. Its closest local forms are vocational education, practical workplace training, and „дуално обучение“ within the vocational system. Vocational education is commonly called „професионално образование“. It prepares learners for an occupation through general subjects, occupational theory, workshops, and practical tasks. Dual training links a vocational school or training institution with an employer. The learner studies parts of the occupation in class and develops practical competence in a workplace. A typical process begins with choosing an occupation and an approved program. The learner then completes theoretical instruction, supervised practice, assessments, and any required final evaluation. Schools, vocational training centers, employers, instructors, and workplace mentors can have separate roles. Learners should understand who teaches, who supervises safety, and who evaluates each part. A vocational certificate can show an acquired professional qualification. A short employer course or ordinary job experience may be useful, but it is not automatically equal to a recognized vocational qualification. The main opportunity is learning skills in a realistic setting and building contact with employers. The limits include uneven availability by occupation and region, different workplace quality, and no automatic promise of a permanent job. Foreign learners may need enough Bulgarian to follow safety rules, technical teaching, and assessments. Previous schooling or qualifications may also need to be documented before entry into a formal program.
Apprenticeship in Bulgaria
Apprenticeship in Bulgaria is mainly found within vocational education and the locally used model called „дуално обучение“, or dual training. It combines organized learning with practical experience in a real workplace. The exact balance between school and company depends on the program and occupation.
