Unemployment in Burkina Faso

According to the ILO, unemployment means not having work while being available and actively seeking a job. In Burkina Faso, the national ENES 2024 rate was 4.0%, with higher rates in Ouagadougou (10.0%) and Bobo-Dioulasso (9.0%). The low rate only partly reflects people’s living conditions because 93.5% of employment is informal and many people work in agriculture, self-employment, or unpaid family work.
