Nature in Cambodia

Cambodia's nature includes Tonle Sap and Mekong wetlands, forests, mountains, coasts, mangroves, islands, caves and their species and ecological processes. In 2024, the Ministry of Environment reported 76 protected areas covering more than 7 million hectares, about 40% of Cambodia's land area, although totals vary by category and reporting year. Nature protection also covers fisheries, community management, research, recreation and conflicts over land and resource use.
