Civil law in China

Civil law in China governs everyday private relationships such as contracts, property, personal rights, family matters, inheritance, and compensation for harm. The Civil Code, called 民法典, is the central written framework. Negotiation and mediation are common, but arbitration or a People's Court may be needed for an enforceable decision.
