Food in Congo

Food in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), also known as Congo-Kinshasa, varies widely across its 26 provinces and agroecological regions. Cassava, maize, rice, plantain, beans, groundnuts, vegetables and fish form important parts of local diets, with preparation methods and available foods changing by region, season, security and market access. Rural households often combine farming with local markets, while urban households depend more on markets, transport and imports.
