Languages in Ethiopia

Ethiopia uses several languages in education, public life and work. Primary schools generally teach in a prepared nationality language, add English from Grade 1 and usually introduce Amharic as an additional language from Grade 3, but regional practice varies. Amharic, English and the locally dominant language often have the greatest practical value for education, mobility and employment.
