Living in Gabon

Gabon lies on the Atlantic coast of Central Africa, between Equatorial Guinea, Cameroon and the Republic of the Congo. Around 2.1 million people live there. Tropical rainforest covers large parts of the country; rivers such as the Ogooué, savannas in the south and the coastal landscape shape its natural environment. The climate is warm and humid year-round, with distinct rainy and dry seasons. In Libreville, many people live in urban neighborhoods and get around by bus, taxi or private vehicle. In the interior, journeys are often longer, and boats connect some places. Jobs are available, among other sectors, in administration, services, oil, mining, timber processing, fishing and agriculture. Markets, family visits and football are part of everyday life in many places.
