Language in Iceland

Icelandic (íslenska) is Iceland’s national and official language. It is used throughout public administration, courts, schools, public services, media and cultural life, while regional speech differences do not create separate administrative languages. Icelandic Sign Language (Íslenskt táknmál) has protected minority-language status and supports access for people who rely on it.
