School in Iran

School in Iran begins with primary education and continues through lower and upper secondary education. The Persian word madreseh means school, while dabestān commonly refers to primary school. Primary school develops reading, writing, mathematics, science, social knowledge, and personal development. Later stages add more specialized subjects and prepare pupils for further education or vocational routes. Most schools teach in Persian and use an official curriculum. Children who speak another home language may need extra support to follow lessons and complete written work. Public schools form the main part of the system. Non-public schools, special schools, and some schools serving particular communities provide additional options, but access and conditions vary. School life commonly includes fixed timetables, textbooks, homework, classroom assessments, and examinations. Attendance, conduct, and communication with the school are important parts of a pupil’s record. In the later years, pupils may enter different academic or technical directions. Choices can affect preparation for university, vocational education, and future occupations. Enrollment normally requires the school to identify the child, previous education, appropriate level, and local eligibility. Pupils arriving from another country or system may need their records reviewed or translated. Schools can differ in class size, facilities, support, activities, and educational atmosphere. A family should consider the child’s daily journey, language needs, well-being, and learning needs as well as academic reputation.
