Living together in Laos

Living together in Laos is shaped by constitutional rights, local administration, village practices and community organizations. A village, commonly called a ban, provides a local social and rule-setting space, while the sub-district administration coordinates public services, development and local responsibilities. People are expected to respect the Constitution, laws, work rules, social norms and public order while exercising rights to equality, religion, expression, association, peaceful assembly and complaints under the law.
