Elections in Lesotho

Elections in Lesotho choose members of the National Assembly and determine which party or coalition can form the government. The National Assembly has 120 seats: 80 constituency seats and 40 compensatory seats from a national party list. Voters use one ballot and one mark, while the Independent Electoral Commission counts it for both parts of the system. Local elections use a different two-ballot system for community, district and municipal representation.
