Religion in Liberia

Religion in Liberia is constitutionally diverse and institutionally mixed. The 2022 census recorded 84.9% Christian, 12.0% Muslim, 0.5% Traditional African Religion, 0.1% other religions and 2.6% no religion. Article 14 protects thought, conscience, worship and religious practice without a state religion or religious test. Churches, mosques, faith-based schools, customary practices and interfaith bodies shape religious life, while legal registration, education, marriage and public-holiday rules follow separate government processes.
