Professions in Libya

Professional work in Libya combines national institutions with local implementation that can vary between administrations and cities. There is no single licensing system covering every occupation. A profession may be regulated through a ministry, a professional council, a bar association, a health registration body or an employer's own qualification requirements. Some trades and services also operate through informal apprenticeship, family work, self-employment or unregistered activity, where legal protection and access to benefits may be weaker or unclear. The Ministry of Technical and Vocational Education oversees technical and vocational education, while the Ministry of Labour and Rehabilitation manages vocational training, employment services and labour inspection.
