Elections in Monaco

Monaco elects the 24-member Conseil National for five years and the 15-member Conseil Communal for four years; the Prince, Ministre d'État and Government are not elected. Monégasque citizens aged 18 or older may vote directly and secretly if they are entered on the permanent electoral list and are not legally excluded. National elections use one-round list voting with majoritarian and proportional seat allocation, while communal elections use up to two rounds. Voting takes place at the polling station or, under current rules, by procuration when a voter is prevented from attending or is detained and can provide the required proof.
