The available pathway depends on the subject, qualification level, language, admission channel and budget. IUM is a private institution with mainly English-language programs: the BBA normally lasts three years and carries 180 ECTS, while the Honors Track carries 240 ECTS. IUM also offers master's programs, an MBA and a DBA. Current program availability must be checked with IUM because the official recognition decision lists some programs that may not appear in every current intake. IUM degrees are covered by state recognition under Arrêté Ministériel n° 2023-575 until the end of academic year 2027/28. Typical applications include identification, records from the last two school years, a diploma, a motivation letter, possible proof of English, an interview and review by an admission jury. MBA admission normally requires a bachelor's degree and at least three years of professional experience; DBA admission normally requires a master's degree and at least five years of professional experience. Public higher-education choices include BTS Support à l'Action Managériale at Lycée Albert Ier and BTS Management en Hôtellerie-Restauration, BTS Comptabilité et Gestion and DCG at Lycée Rainier III. A MAN Hôtellerie-Restauration can provide a transition in that field. Pavillon Bosio, a public institution of the Mairie de Monaco, offers a three-year DNA in art and a two-year DNSEP in scenography. Admission for the 2026 first-year intake is outside Parcoursup and generally requires an applicant under 24, a baccalauréat or current final-year study, a portfolio of up to 12 projects, tests in theory, practical art and English, and B2 French evidence such as TCF, DELF or DALF for non-French speakers. The first-year registration fee is €35; exact public fees follow the annual decision. The CHPG nursing institute works with Université de Nice Sophia-Antipolis and offers three years over six semesters, 180 ECTS and the state nursing diploma with Licence grade. Teaching combines theory with supervised placements at CHPG, in Monaco and in neighbouring municipalities. Baccalauréat applicants generally apply through Parcoursup, while continuing professional applicants need at least three years of contributions and compete for quota places. Costs differ sharply between providers. IUM tuition for 2026/27 is approximately €14,360 to €15,150 per BBA year, while master's programs cost about €16,450 to €31,875 in total, the MBA €42,950 and the DBA €55,875. IUM may also charge a programme application fee of €80, a €190 student association fee and €675 for IUM for Life. Public school, nursing and art fees depend on the institution and status. Housing and daily costs are high, and many students live in Beausoleil, Cap-d'Ail, Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, Menton, Nice or Italy and commute. IUM warns that the local rental market is competitive. A stay in Monaco exceeding three months requires a residence card; non-EEA students generally need an establishment visa through the French authorities before applying for the Monaco residence card. A study place alone does not automatically grant general residence or work permission. The Monaco State study grant for 2026/27 is requested through MonGuichet by the last Friday of September at 14:00. Eligibility covers categories such as Monégasque applicants, spouses or dependants of Monégasque nationals and certain foreign residents. The amount depends on family quotient and study costs, and eligible foreign applicants may receive a 30% reduction under the applicable decision. IUM may offer merit scholarships, while ESAP materials identify Monaco and French aid channels. No general international student grant is established by the available local evidence. Internships are a central part of several programs. Alternance uses a paid work contract and combines institutional study with employment; local examples include IUM's BBA in Monaco Banking and Financial Services and its MSc Finance Corporate Banking and Financial Institutions. The employer and institution must both approve the arrangement, and the Service de l'Emploi or Cellule Emploi-Jeunes supports eligible people aged 16 to 29. After graduation, recognition for admission to further study or access to a regulated profession depends on the destination country and its regulator. A Monaco qualification does not create automatic worldwide professional authorisation.
Study in Monaco
Tertiary study in Monaco is offered through a small, institutionally concentrated system rather than a broad public university network. Main options include business studies at the International University of Monaco, public higher-education programs at Lycée Albert Ier and Lycée Rainier III, art and scenography at Pavillon Bosio, and nursing at the CHPG nursing institute. Students can also study at institutions in France, Italy or other countries when Monaco does not offer the desired subject.
