Nature in Myanmar

Nature in Myanmar includes forests, mountains, dry and sub-humid lands, mangroves, rivers and lakes, grasslands, coasts and small islands. The country protects these systems through national parks, wildlife sanctuaries, nature reserves, marine national parks and community conservation areas under the 2018 Conservation of Biodiversity and Protected Areas Law. Farming, fishing, forest use and tourism depend on these ecosystems but can also cause habitat loss, illegal wildlife trade, fire and human-wildlife conflict. Access, fees, permits, safety and seasonal conditions vary by site, so Myanmar has no single national visitor rule.
