Business in Namibia

Business in Namibia can be operated as a sole trader, partnership, joint venture, Close Corporation (CC), company, external company or Section 21 nonprofit company, with formal and informal activity both present. BIPA, the Business and Intellectual Property Authority, handles business and intellectual-property registration, while NamRA, the Namibia Revenue Agency, handles taxpayer and tax registrations. Starting formally usually requires registration, beneficial-ownership information identifying the people who ultimately own or control the business, tax setup and any local or sector permit. The legal form, staff, activity and municipality determine the duties, costs and access to finance.
