Crime in Paraguay

Crime in Paraguay covers actual or threatened criminal acts, locally described as hechos punibles, together with prevention, reporting, police action and victim support. Commonly recorded areas include theft, robbery, fraud, threats, family violence, serious injury, homicide, extortion, trafficking and digital crime, but administrative complaints do not measure all incidents because underreporting remains relevant. In 2025, the Ministerio Público recorded about 289,765 complaints involving about 276,600 affected people nationwide; these figures are registered cases, not a national victimization rate.
