Spanish is the main language of public administration, education, business, and travel in Peru. Peruvians may call it castellano, and local accents and vocabulary can differ between regions. Mobile coverage and internet quality vary by city, mountain route, valley, forest, and rural community. A phone may work well in one neighborhood and lose signal soon after leaving it. Communication style can be warm and indirect, especially when refusing a request or discussing a delay. Confirm important details such as time, place, price, and responsibility instead of relying on a vague agreement. Formal situations may require respectful greetings and clear identification. Keep copies of important addresses and contacts offline in case the phone battery, signal, or data connection fails.
