Languages in the Republic of the Congo

Language learning in the Republic of the Congo is fragmented; French is the official language, while Lingala and Kituba are national languages of wider communication. Learning is possible through the state school and literacy pathway, university programs, courses offered by the French cultural and language institute (Institut français du Congo), and private and informal providers. French exams such as DELF and DALF are internationally recognized; no nationwide standardized certificate for Lingala or Kituba has been documented.
