Religion in the Republic of the Congo

Religion in the Republic of the Congo (Brazzaville) is predominantly Christian; Muslim communities, smaller religious groups and traditional beliefs also shape religious life. The state is secular, protects freedom of religion and conscience, and limits religious activities through legal provisions on public order and the rights of others. Worship, religious education, holidays and life rituals are organized mainly by the respective communities; however, a religious wedding does not replace a civil marriage.
