Art in San Marino

San Marino's art system is small and institution-led. The Segreteria di Stato per l'Istruzione e la Cultura and the Istituti Culturali della Repubblica di San Marino coordinate major public cultural functions. Musei di Stato, the Galleria Nazionale, Sezione Arti Performative, Biblioteca di Stato, Archivio di Stato and Istituto Musicale Sammarinese each serve different parts of artistic creation, presentation, education, preservation and public access. Associations and private partners also contribute to exhibitions, concerts, performances and other cultural projects. The practical distinction is between established public institutions and project-based activity.
