Employer in Slovenia

A delodajalec is a person or organization that employs workers in Slovenia. It may be a private company, a public institution, a sole trader, or another legally recognized organization. An employer organizes tasks, working time, supervision, equipment, and communication. The employer must also explain important workplace rules and protect workers from known safety risks. Employers may use indefinite or fixed-term contracts, full-time or part-time work, and other lawful arrangements. The arrangement must reflect the real work and must not be used to hide an ordinary employment relationship. A Slovenian employer also has duties concerning equal treatment, privacy, personal data, and protection from harassment. These duties apply alongside the practical management of the workplace. Hiring people from abroad can require additional checks about residence and work authorization. The employer should make sure that the planned work is allowed before the person starts. When employment ends, the employer must follow the applicable process and provide the necessary records. A careful employer communicates changes early and keeps important decisions in writing.
