Health in Timor-Leste

Timor-Leste has a universal National Health Service that provides prevention, examination, treatment, medicines, emergency care and follow-up through public facilities. Health care is primarily organized around primary health care, with Health Posts and Community Health Centres linked to regional, referral and national hospitals. Public consultations and hospital beds are generally provided without a bill, although transport, accommodation, medicines unavailable in the system and lost working time can still create costs.
