Apprenticeship in Uganda

Apprenticeship in Uganda is a work-based pathway into a specific occupation within the country’s TVET, or Technical and Vocational Education and Training, system. It can take place through an approved provider, a registered enterprise or informal master-artisan learning, with skills assessed and certified through the national framework. Uganda has no single dual system or standard duration, so formal programmes, on-the-job agreements and prior-skill pathways follow different arrangements. The 2025 TVET Act provides the current framework, while provider quality, costs and terminology still vary.
