Language in Uganda

Uganda has English as its official language and Kiswahili as a second official language whose use is to be determined by Parliament. Up to 43 languages are spoken, while local languages remain central to daily life, identity, education and community information. English dominates formal national settings, but language use in schools, media, local administration and public services varies by region and institution.
