Nature in Uganda

Uganda's nature includes savannas, montane and lowland forests, wetlands, lakes, rivers and volcanic landscapes that support wildlife, water supplies, livelihoods and tourism. Protection and use are shared among the Uganda Wildlife Authority, the National Forestry Authority, the Ministry of Water and Environment, the National Environment Management Authority and local governments. Access to wildlife, forests and wetlands depends on the area, activity, permit rules and management plan.
