Banks in Vatican City

Vatican City does not have a general retail banking market. The Istituto per le Opere di Religione (IOR), commonly called the Vatican Bank, is the only authorized banking institution in Vatican City and serves people and organizations with a close connection to the Holy See or Catholic Church. Eligible account holders can use euro accounts, SEPA payments and worldwide SWIFT transfers, but tourists and the general public cannot open ordinary local bank accounts.
