Nature in Yemen

Yemen's natural environment includes Red Sea, Gulf of Aden and Arabian Sea coasts, the Tihama plains, mangroves, seagrass beds, coral reefs, western highlands, wadis, terraces, rangelands, deserts and steppe. Socotra adds highly endemic mountain, plateau, coastal and marine ecosystems, including Dragon's Blood Tree and frankincense habitats. Nature protection combines national law, protected-area management, local authorities, communities and nonprofit organizations, but access and enforcement vary by location.
