Language in Zambia

Zambia's language landscape combines English as the sole official language with many widely used local languages. Bemba, Nyanja, Tonga, Lozi, Kaonde, Lunda and Luvale have nationally recognised practical roles, but they are not constitutional co-official languages. Language choice affects education, courts, administration, broadcasting, cultural life and civic participation.
