Life stages in Zambia

Life stages in Zambia are shaped by age, family roles, education, work, care needs and major life events rather than by one national life-stage system. The Constitution defines a child as under 18, an adult as 18 or older and a young person as 18 to 34, while an older youth policy still uses 19 to 34. Access to registration, education, protection, social assistance, care and retirement support varies strongly by location, household resources and responsible institution.
