State in Zambia

Zambia is a constitutional republic governed under the Constitution of Zambia 1991, as amended by Act No. 2 of 2016 and Act No. 13 of 2025. State power belongs to the people and operates through the Executive, Parliament and an independent Judiciary. National Government works with Provincial Administration and 116 Local Authorities across 10 provinces, but Provincial Administration is an administrative extension of national government rather than a separate third level of government. The Constitution, legislation, public finance, oversight bodies and security services determine how public power is exercised.
