Labor market in Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe's labour market combines formal employment, public service, private companies, agriculture, household enterprises and a large informal economy. In the Q2 2025 Quarterly Labour Force Survey for people aged 16 and over, 4,020,125 people were in the labour force, 3,186,598 were employed and official unemployment was 20.7%. Informal work accounted for 58.5% of employment, compared with 35.8% formal employment. Access differs sharply by age, gender, location, education and pathway, while earnings are under pressure from inflation.
