Employer in Albania

An employer, called punëdhënës in Albanian, may be a company, public body, nonprofit organization, or individual business. The employer enters an employment relationship with a worker and takes responsibility for organizing and paying for the work. The employer should define the position before recruitment. A clear job description explains the main duties, required skills, workplace, reporting line, schedule, and tools provided for the role. A written employment contract records the agreement with each worker. The real working arrangement should match the contract, especially regarding duties, wages, hours, duration, and place of work. Employers normally maintain personnel and payroll records. They also handle wage calculations and the required connection between employment, taxation, and social insurance. The workplace must be organized with health and safety in mind. This includes identifying hazards, giving understandable instructions, providing suitable equipment, and responding properly to accidents or unsafe conditions. Employers should treat workers consistently and respectfully. Recruitment, assignments, pay decisions, discipline, and dismissal should be based on legitimate work-related reasons rather than favoritism or discrimination. Every workplace needs simple procedures for attendance, leave, expenses, complaints, performance discussions, and handling confidential information. Workers should know whom to contact and which records they must provide. When employment ends, the employer should follow the applicable contract and formal process. Final wages, company property, access rights, and employment records should be closed in an orderly and documented way.
