Adopt Cambodia lists dogs and cats from shelters and rescues across Cambodia and allows searches by species, age, size, location and shelter. A prospective owner should check the animal's origin, age, behavior, vaccination and deworming records, health condition and, where relevant, the legality of breeding or trade. Exporting a pet requires the destination country's import rules as well as Cambodian documentation. PPAWS lists an official export permit at USD 60 and asks for the flight date, destination airport, city and country, vaccination book, rabies certificate and owner passport. The destination may also require a microchip, an import permit, a rabies waiting period, a rabies antibody titre, an endorsed health certificate or quarantine. PPAWS treats a microchip as a prerequisite for export processing and states that vaccinations used for Cambodian export or import permits should follow the microchip. The IPC Virology laboratory is recognized for FAVN testing, a rabies-antibody test, for dogs, cats and ferrets; the reported adequate titre is at least 0.5 IU/ml. Timing, fees and document validity depend on the destination and provider. There is no evidenced public national surrender authority for pets in Cambodia. Shelters and rescues may accept an animal only when capacity allows. Foster care, direct rehoming and adoption listings are functional alternatives. Before transfer, provide medical records, sterilization status, rabies information, microchip data, behavior notes and a written record of the new owner. Abandonment creates welfare, bite and disease risks, especially where free-roaming dogs are common.
