Study in Jordan

Higher education in Jordan follows secondary schooling and includes university and college routes. Public universities, private universities, and community colleges are important parts of the system. Community colleges and similar institutions often provide diploma-level or applied education. Universities offer bachelor’s programmes and may also offer postgraduate degrees and professional study. For students from the national school system, Tawjihi results are an important part of many admission decisions. Applicants with foreign or international school qualifications usually need their credentials evaluated or treated as equivalent before admission. Admission conditions vary by institution and subject. Competitive or professional programmes may require stronger results, particular school subjects, examinations, interviews, portfolios, or other evidence of preparation. Arabic is used widely, while English is important in many scientific, medical, engineering, business, and technology programmes. Students should check the actual language used in lectures, textbooks, assignments, and examinations. Recognition matters at three levels: the institution, the programme, and the final qualification. This is especially important for professional careers, postgraduate admission, public employment, and later use of the degree outside Jordan. Student life includes lectures, tutorials, laboratories, assignments, examinations, independent reading, and administrative deadlines. Transport, housing, digital access, and family duties can strongly affect the practical study experience. Higher education can develop specialist knowledge, professional access, networks, and independent thinking. It cannot guarantee employment, so students should also build work experience, communication skills, digital ability, and evidence of applied projects.
