Large Mexican cities may have metro, metrobús, trolleybus, light rail, or other organized public transport. Smaller cities often rely on buses, combis, colectivos, taxis, and walking. A camión usually means a bus, while a colectivo or combi is a shared vehicle that follows a route. Names, routes, stops, and payment methods vary by city. Taxis may be picked up at authorized stands, requested by phone or app, or identified by local markings. Confirm the destination and fare system before starting the ride. App-based rides can provide route and driver information. Check the vehicle, driver, and destination before entering, and share the trip with someone you trust. Intercity buses connect many towns and cities. Choose the correct terminal, keep your ticket or booking details, and arrive early enough to find the platform. Driving requires attention to traffic, road quality, parking, signs, and local driving behavior. A foreign driving licence or vehicle document may not be sufficient for every situation. At night or in unfamiliar areas, choose a route with reliable lighting, known stops, and a clear way home. Keep bags closed and avoid displaying valuables. Leave extra time because traffic, weather, demonstrations, road work, and informal stops can delay a journey. Ask local people where to board and where to get off.
