Safety in Mongolia

Safety in Mongolia depends on both emergency hazards and crime conditions. Drought, dzud, floods, wildfires, severe storms, extreme cold, earthquakes, landslides and technical accidents can affect people, transport, livestock, income and supplies, while crime risks include theft, fraud, violence, sexual offences and digital attacks. Everyday risk is generally manageable but can rise in crowded places, at night, around alcohol, during major festivals and when using unlicensed transport.
