Professions in Nepal

Professions in Nepal range from agriculture, construction and skilled trades to health, education, finance, ICT, tourism, public service and creative work. Entry may rely on school or university qualifications, technical training and skill testing, professional registration, employer experience or Lok Sewa Aayog selection. The Nepal Labour Force Survey 2017/18 recorded 84.6% of employment as informal, so contracts, registration and social protection vary sharply by occupation and employer. Regulated professions require recognized qualifications and registration with the responsible council, while many private and self-employed occupations have no universal professional register.
