Religion in Nicaragua

Nicaragua has no state religion, and its Constitution formally protects individual and collective religious belief and practice. Catholic, evangelical and Moravian communities are the most visible religious groups, alongside smaller Jewish, Muslim and Jehovah's Witness communities. Religious practice includes worship, prayer, sacraments, processions, pilgrimages, novenas, Bible teaching and community services. Formal guarantees coexist with strong state controls and recent restrictions affecting religious organizations and public observance.
