Public transport is called ühistransport in Estonia. Buses are the broadest shared mode, while trains connect selected corridors and ferries link important islands with the mainland. Urban networks may include buses, trams, and trolleybuses, depending on the city. Rural services can be less frequent and require more advance planning. A bus is a buss, a train is a rong, and a ferry is a praam or parvlaev. Learning destination names and stop names helps when announcements are mainly in Estonian. Tickets, travel cards, validation, and passenger concessions differ across networks. Ühiskaart is a common name for a public-transport card, but its use and associated rights must be checked for the relevant system. Driving requires attention to road conditions, seasonal equipment, wildlife, cyclists, pedestrians, and reduced visibility. Snow, ice, fog, and darkness can change a familiar route substantially. Walking and cycling are practical in many places, but infrastructure is uneven. Reflective visibility, predictable movement, and suitable weather protection improve safety. Taxis and app-based rides should be checked for vehicle identity, price information, and pickup location. Passengers should use a traceable booking or receipt when possible. Good journey planning includes the final connection. A late arrival may leave no onward service in a small town, harbour, or rural area.
